Sparwood Snapshot

Known as the gateway to British Columbia, Sparwood is a small coal mining town found in the Southeast corner of the province. Sparwood is the industrial center of the Elk Valley and is undergoing a transition from a wealthy resource community to a more balanced town with a healthy mix of industry, retirement, recreation and tourism.

Who We are

The Sparwood Early Childhood Development committee (ECD) is a fundamental community organization that correlates service providers with caregivers, families and parents with children aged birth to 6 years of age.

What We Do

The Early Childhood Development committee works in conjunction with the community to ensure that our children are nurtured and able to develop a solid foundation to reach their greatest potential.

Additional Information

We invite anyone interested in helping children to reach their full potential to come out an volunteer to be on the committee or help with one of our many projects, for example the Christmas Bags, parenting workshops, or the Children’s Festival. We meet the third Thursday of each month from September to June at the Sparwood Public Library starting at 10 am.  Childcare is provided free to committee members (if childcare is required please ask in advance), meetings last between an hour and an hour and a half.
